Phobias can develop around any object or situation such as spiders, rodents, heights or flying.
When we have a phobia, we experience high levels of anxiety which can be triggered when we are near our feared object or situation or even when we are thinking about it.
Intense anxiety which arises when we perceive the feared object or situation causes the body’s ‘fight or flight’ response to kick in. Physical symptoms include increase of heart rate, sweating, shaking or dizziness.
Many people with phobias avoid situations where they might have to face their fear. Although this may reduce anxiety in the short term, phobias can become a problem if they start to impact daily life, for example if they stop you from doing things you would like to or need to do.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be very effective in treating phobias and we can deliver this to you in a range of methods that fit your individual needs and lifestyle.

CBT can also be delivered to you via phone or Skype if this would work best for you.
Our NHS service is free and available throughout Surrey for people 17+ who are registered with a Surrey GP.
You can ask your GP to refer you or you can choose to refer yourself and you can expect complete confidentiality.
